General Rules

GENERAL RULES

1. Safety is always first! Good sportsmanship is always expected.

2. Always operate in a safe manner.

3. NO alcohol before pulling or driving equipment.

a. If you are caught drinking and driving you will not be able to compete and your entry fee will not be given back. You will be disqualified from the event.

4. No riders on tractors or in trucks while in the pits at any time – drivers only.

5. Drivers must shut down before 100ft. mark to restart (breakage must drop to last).

6. First puller in class has the option to come back last, only if the sled is reset.

7. Drivers must remain in their seats during pull. If you lose control, you will be flagged.

GENERAL RULES FOR TRUCKS

1. All drivers must;

a. Be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license

i. With parental signature a puller may be as young as 16

b. Wear a helmet while competing

i. Minimum of snell 90 or SFI 31.1, 31.2, 41.1, or 41.2

c. Use their safety restraints while competing

2. Full fire suits are required in 3.0 Limited Pro Diesel

a. Suit must meet SFI 3.2

b. Head Sock, gloves, and shoes must meet SFI 3.3

3. All classes must have a minimum 2.5 pound fire extinguisher within reach of the driver mounted in the cab. Fire extinguisher must be full and up to date.

4. No batteries, coolers, fuel, etc are allowed in the cab of the vehicle

a. Batteries and coolers must be securely mounted

5. All vehicles must have a neutral or clutch safety switch

6. All hoods must be latched securely while competing

7. All throttles must automatically return to the idle position

8. All vehicles must have working brakes adequate enough to stop itself

9. All hitches must be rigid in every direction

10. Hitch must be clear and visible

11. Added weights must be secure

a. Weights cannot interfere with safety devices or the hook/chain

12. You cannot exceed the weight of your class

13. No additional weight can be in the cab of the vehicle.

PROTEST

1. All protests must be made in writing and submitted and signed within five (5) minutes of class being protested completion. Protest must clearly define three items: WHO is protested, WHAT they are protested for (limited to one item per protest), and by WHO is protesting. The protestor must be a competitor in the class which they are protesting; no protesting outside of one’s class will be allowed.

2. All protest fees will be in Cash.

a. If protested vehicle is found legal, then fee will be forfeited to person found legal.

b. If vehicle is found to be illegal, then vehicle and member are disqualified with a LOSS of PURSE and POINTS, and fee returned to protester.

3. Fees for protest are as follows:

a. Cubic Inch- $1,500. Complete tear down. A 1% variance will be given for wear and tear. $200.00 from protest fee for teardown is paid to each club representative in charge of teardown; there will be two officials present at teardown, or 1 official and 1 board member if a second official is unable to be there. Remainder of teardown fee is returned to protestor or given to protested party pending outcome of teardown.

b. Visual, turbo, performance enhancements, etc.- $500

4. Any Protest at New York Hot Farm Pulling Series events involving an engine tear down WILL occur at the event IMMEDIATELY following the conclusion of the event. Once a pulling vehicle is under protest, there will be NO tampering of ANY sort to the vehicle. The tractor must be in plain sight of the officials at all times until the conclusion of the event. At no time will a protested vehicle be allowed to leave the event before the conclusion of the event. Refusal of protested party to comply WILL result in protest being defined as a failure, all points will be forfeited, and 375-day suspension WILL follow. See bylaws for process to re-apply for membership after suspension period is over.

5. Any competitor knowingly competing with performance enhancing equipment verified by a Tech Official will be disqualified for a period of 375 days from all NYHFPS events nationwide. Suspensions will include DRIVER and VEHICLE.

6. The Officials and protested puller are the ONLY people allowed near the vehicle during protest. Anyone causing disruption during a protest will be disqualified.

7. The New York Hot Farm Pulling Series reserves the right to suspend a competitor for any rules violation and will receive notice in five (5) working days.

8. Judge/Officials decisions during the event are FINAL.

a. To appeal an Official’s decision, the appealing member shall make a written request and deliver it to event director or NYHFPS President within 72 hours of the disqualification. The appeal shall be evaluated as promptly as possible. The meeting must allow parties involved the opportunity to personally present their position or facts at the meeting. A majority of the board will constitute a quorum for determination of any appeal and majority of those present will make the decision. Only annual members have the right to appeal.

Disqualifications

1. A chalk line will be used to mark boundaries from 0 to 330 ft with a cone or marker at 330 ft mark which chows the end of the track. Any part of the pulling vehicle that touches or goes over the marked chalk line will result in an out of bounds disqualification

2. In a speed limit class, a vehicle that posts a speed on the speed board that is above the limit for that class will result in disqualification.

3. Loss of weight under green flag

4. Loss or failure of safety equipment or equipment belonging to vehicle under the green flag

5. Illegal fuel or water injection

6. Loss of excessive liquid

7. Unsportsmanlike Conduct- Any competitor or crew member displaying unsportsmanlike conduct at any NYHFPS events, whether verbal or physical, will result in loss of points and purse for event where the actions take place. Any second offense after official notification in writing by NYHFPS will be cause for the competitor and team suspension for up to 375 days from date of infraction

6500 lb Enhanced Gas 4x4 Truck Rules

1. Ballast

a. Maximum weight: 6500 lbs.

b. No hanging weights are allowed. Hidden weights are permitted but must not be visible and not below the frame. Weight may be in bed. All weights must be securely fastened.

c. No weight allowed in the cab.

2. Chassis and Suspension

a. OEM chassis is mandatory. The vehicle must retain OEM frame rails.

b. Must maintain OEM measurements for the cab and bed being used.

c. Rear suspension may be blocked solid. Stock-style suspension must be in place. Stock style refers to the type of suspension that came from the manufacturer in the year/make/model/vintage of the vehicle being pulled. Must have leaf springs.

d. Hydraulic over electric is permitted but must run through the OEM steering box.

e. Laddering the frame is allowed.

3. Battery

a. Batteries are not allowed in the cab unless factory installed. Must be in the OEM location.

4. Dress Code

a. DOT-approved helmet must be worn and fastened.

b. Driver MUST wear at least shirt, pants, and leather boots.

i. No open toed shoes or shorts are allowed.

5. Body

a. The body must replicate the OEM truck body, including the full bed floor. The body must retain the full sheet metal. No mud flaps or dirt deflectors.

b. The complete OEM floor pan is mandatory. The vehicle must maintain a complete firewall.

c. Must have all windows. Must have all working OEM lights. Must have all interior panels and dashboard.

d. Flatbeds are permitted but must be a manufactured bed. No homemade beds are allowed. The wheelbase must maintain OEM measurements for the cab being used.

6. Brakes

a. Must have four working brakes.

b. Must have working brake lights.

7. Exhaust

a. Headers are permitted.

b. Exhaust must clear the rear of the cab.

8. Safety Equipment

a. All trucks must have at least a six-inch-wide u-joint shield around the rear u-joint, constructed of at least 5/16-inch steel or 3/8-inch aluminum. All shields must be securely mounted to the vehicle. Any front shaft u-joints that can be visibly seen from the side of the truck must be shielded to contain the u-joint and the end of the driveshaft. Must have one center loop.

b. Kill switch will be securely mounted to the back of the vehicle. A 2-inch or bigger solid ring must be attached to the end of the switch. The switch must also be able to be activated in the cab while the driver is secured in the vehicle.

c. All vehicles must have a 2 1/2 lb. dry chemical or 1 lb. halo extinguisher within the reach of the driver.

d. Seatbelts are required when hooked to the sled.

9. Drive Line

a. OEM rear and front ends required. Must have come factory in a one-ton or smaller vehicle.

b. OEM transmission and transfer case must be used. Must have come factory in a one-ton or smaller vehicle.

c. SFI bell housing and/or SFI blowproof bell housing or SFI blanket-type shield must be used. Slipper clutches are allowed.

d. Automatic transmissions must be covered 360 degrees from the back of the engine block to the tail shaft bolts.

e. Traction bars and other traction devices are permitted except electronic traction control.

f. Ford ZF 5-speed transmissions are required to have a blanket from the back of the engine block to the tail shaft bolts.

10. Tires

a. Tires must be DOT-approved and no larger than 35x12.50 or 315x75 Metric.

b. Must have factory tire size stamped for verification. If the size is removed, they will be considered illegal.

c. No studded tires or tire chains. No alterations to tires permitted. No bar or terra tires.

d. Dual wheels are prohibited.

e. Rear wheels are allowed.

f. Rear tires must track 50% over the path of the front tires.

11. Fuel

a. Gasoline only.

b. No propane or Nitrous.

c. No 0xygenated fuels allowed.

d. Other oxygen enhancers are not allowed.

12. Engine

a. 505 cubic inch limit with no variance. All trucks must be cubic inch checked and sealed.

b. Block must be in stock position

c. Aluminum blocks are prohibited unless it came from factory with an aluminum block.

d. Cast heads only. No pro stock-style heads. Aftermarket cast heads allowed.

e. Single naturally aspirated 4-barrel carb with a four (4) bolt dominator flange.

i. No split flange dominator carb allowed.

ii. No Dominator carb allowed on a Big Block.

f. OEM EFI fuel injection is permitted.

g. No tunnel rams or sheet metal intake allowed.

h. Engine-driven fans require 360-degree metal shielding. Electric fans are permitted.

i. Aftermarket radiators are permitted. Must be in OEM location. Must flow coolant freely.

j. Blowproof harmonic balancer or 360-degree shield is highly recommended.

k. No dry sump engines.

13. Hitch

a. Any style hitch is allowed. Must be receiver-style at the point of hook. Must have forged pins; no bolts are allowed.

b. Hitch height: 26 inches with a minimum of 3.75-inch x 3.25-inch opening.

c. Hitch must be rigged in all directions. The hitch mounting point must not be above frame rails and must be stationary in all directions. Cannot extend forward of the centerline of the rear axle.

d. Hitch farthest point back at bed floor.

Wild street diesel 4x4 truck

Wild Street Diesel 4x4

1. 8500 pound maximum weight with driver.

a. No hanging weight.

b. Weight securely mounted in the bed is permitted.

2. Vehicle must be on the road with current insurance, registration, and inspection for the state it is registered in.

3. The body and chassis must be OEM to vehicle retaining all factory body panels.

a. Aftermarket hoods are permitted.

b. OEM firewalls and floor pans are required and must not have any additional holes.

c. Must retain a full interior with oem airbags.

4. Drivetrain must be from a similar year, make, and model one ton or less.

5. Cooling system must be in its factory location.

a. Electric fans and water pumps are permitted.

b. Coolant must flow freely through the block.

i. No fillers in the block.

6. No turbocharger(s) restriction.

7. Turbocharger may be relocated.

a. Intercooler may be relocated or aftermarket

b. Any exhaust is allowed but all exhausts must aim Straight upwards.

i. Discharge through the hood is allowed as long as it is VERTICAL

ii. Exhaust being discharged from a tail pipe must point 90 degrees VERTICAL.

1. A 45-degree elbow will not be allowed.

8. Injectables are prohibited

9. 35x12.50 maximum tire size.

a. DOT approved tires only.

b. No cut, studs, chains, or altered tires.

c. No dual wheels.

10. 24” maximum hitch height.

11. Front Suspension must be OEM style.

a. Strut tower braces, lower tie straps, sway bars, limiting straps, and ladder bars are permitted.

12. Rear suspension must be OEM style.

a. Must have 2 shocks minimum.

b. Can have bump stops that make suspension have no downward travel.

c. Bolt on Traction bars are permitted. Brackets on the frame and axle can be welded.

d. Air bags permitted if empty and disabled. Air bags must be disconnected at the bag.

Limited Pro Diesel (3.0) Truck

Limited Pro Diesel 4x4 (3.0)

1. Maximum weight 8000lbs. (Dry weight 7900# for ice allowance at scales.)

2. The OEM chassis is mandatory. The vehicle must retain a full ¾ or 1-ton size chassis. Wheel tubs, back-half conversions, tube chassis prohibited. Maximum wheelbase 158” and 102” maximum width. (outside tire to outside tire). Rigid suspension allowed. Hydraulic steering permitted. (Intent= no Isuzu or compact diesel chassis)

3. The body must be OEM truck body. Beds must be covered. No flatbeds permitted. The body must retain full metal, aftermarket steel hoods are permitted. Hood must be closed and securely latched while hooked to the sled.

4. Maximum engine size will be 460 cubic inch. Engines must come from factory in one ton or smaller diesel pickup truck. Engine must remain in stock location as intended by manufacturer. Engines may be interchanged between manufacturers.

5. No aftermarket blocks permitted

6. Head must be OEM or OEM one piece cast replica for that brand engine. No billet heads of any material. Outside dimensions of cylinder head must measure factory width and length. Head must retain OEM valve angle.

7. Front of engine block can be no farther forward than 17” of center line of front axle.

8. Engine must have cable surrounding block and head. Cable must be minimum 3/8” diameter located between cylinders #1 and #2. Cable must pass thru manifolds. Cable will have 4-6” of slack with a minimum of 4 cable clamps at splice.

9. All engines will have a deflection shield, running the complete length of the block casting. Shield must be securely fastened and must be .060” thick. (This equates to a steel inner fender)

10. Hook point must be no closer than 44” of center line of rear axle, hitch height maximum of 26”, with a minimum of a 3.75” X 3.0” opening. 1/4” wall thick tubing material minimum thickness required for hitch assembly. Minimum of 1” material around pivot pin location of drawbar (circumference). Pivot pin at intersection of connection to hitch assembly requires ½” total thickness minimum (width). Hitch point must be easily accessed. No “trick” type hitches permitted. Hitch must be stationary in all directions. Hitch must be frame mounted. Hitch must be mounted center line of rear axle or behind. Hitch must not exceed a maximum of 25° angle from pivot point to hook point. Drawbar height adjustment link if attached to rear differential housing the attaching point must be at axle centerline or below. The drawbar adjusters cannot attach to anything above centerline of the rear axle. The adjusters must go down from drawbar. The adjuster bars can only go straight downward vertically or towards rear differential housing. No slotting of holes for adjuster attachment. No hitch supports or adjusters fastened to the rear axle housing shall be above the centerline of the rear axle. Pivot pin of drawbar can be no farther forward than center line of the rear axle.

11. Secondary hitch required. Minimum of 3/8” steel, located 12” below primary hitch on the same vertical plane. (You should be able to look directly through both at the same time – they need to be lined up.

12. The turbocharger is smooth faced intake housing, limited to a maximum of 3.0” inlet, (no map ring) with all air entering through the 3.0” opening. Intake wheel must protrude 1/8th inch inside of opening.

13. Exhaust must exit straight up, with billet cross and compressor blanket.

14. Intercoolers allowed. Dumping or draining intercoolers without a catch pan within 100 feet of competition track is prohibited.

15. Water injection is prohibited. All components must be removed from the truck.

16. Air shut off must have a cable that goes to the rear of truck operated by the sled operator and also one to the cab of the truck. Kill switch will be securely mounted to the back of the vehicle and have a two (2) inch diameter metallic ring to attach the sled.

17. Fuel Systems: Maximum of one P7100 pump (2 5/8”W x 9 9/16”L x 8 3/16”H main pump body), limited to one plunger per cylinder. The use of multiple high pressure common rail fuel pumps is allowed. Ford Powerstroke engine may utilize a second HPOP. Electronic fuel injection is permitted. A 3-way dump valve mounted before the injection pump is mandatory which can be operated by the driver while strapped in the seat.

18. No fuel lines or tanks permitted inside of truck cab unless securely mounted in marine box.

19. Fuel limited to diesel fuel. No alcohol, nitrous, propane or any oxygen enhancing agents allowed.

20. Must run DOT approved tire. Maximum tire height 35”, no studded tires or chains. No alteration to DOT tires allowed. No sanding, siping, shaving, grooving or burnouts. Excessive wear or modification to OEM configuration is not allowed and will be subject to tech official’s review. Dual rear wheels are permitted on rear axle only. Maximum of 6 tires.

21. Front weights must be no more than 60” from the center line of the front axle to forward most point and be securely fastened. No weights are allowed in cab of the truck. If weights are located in the bed of truck they are to be securely fastened to the bed of the truck.

22. Drive train will consist of the following: Any front axle, any transfer case and any rear axle. No planetaries permitted.

23. Axle shields are required. Shield to be .060” thickness steel or aluminum. Shield not to be mounted to axle ends or hub bolts. A hole may be cut in one to allow locking in of hubs.

24. No cast iron clutches or flywheels permitted, must be SFI approved. Trucks with automatic transmissions, refer to General Rules

25. SFI bell housing blankets and/or SFI blow proof bell housing required.

26. All U-joints must be shielded 360 degrees with 3/8” thick aluminum w/1/8” steel liner or 5/16” thick steel. Shield will be 6 inches long minimum and centered on u-joint. Inside diameter of shield will be no more than 2 inches larger than u-joint.

27. All intermediate shafts between the transmission and transfer case will be totally enclosed in 3/8” aluminum or 5/16” steel, ¼” of shaft may be visible.

28. Fire extinguisher (2.5#) or fire suppression system, Helmets-Snell 90 or better, SFI fire suits, head sock, gloves, shoes, and seat belts required.

29. No traction control permitted. 30. All other rules may be found in 4X4 Truck and General Rule sections.
